Cuesta Technologies, one of the first e-commerce Web developers and the brain-child of Monty Swiryn, with sales and marketing support by Laurie Swiryn, is closing its doors after a successful 28 year run in the industry.

In June of 1995, Cuesta Technologies demonstrated one of the first examples of database driven Web applications with e-commerce at NECC (National Education Computing Conference) in Baltimore.  “Sophisticated E-Stuff” was launched!

Cuesta’s Web catalogs were an immediate win-win for educators, publishers and school supply purveyors. The concept was new and exciting to all!

Teachers and purchasing agents were astounded at the lightning speed search and ordering capabilities. They immediately saw how the system simplified finding products with up-to-date product information and pricing. The fact that e-commerce system accepted purchase orders and credit cards streamlined the purchasing process for all.

Publishers immediately saw how the new technology would replace printed catalogs, allowing immediate access to current product descriptions, images, pricing, and simple online ordering, while eliminating exorbitant printing and mailing costs. Best of all, marketing managers, not engineers, would be able to create and update the content any time from any connected computer, allowing their customers to have 24/7 access to current product information and pricing.

Cuesta went on to be the go-to Web developer for the Education Industry as well as other markets including Art Galleries, Construction Companies, Online Grocery Shopping, and cutting-edge Software Companies in the business world.

Below is a short list of Cuesta’s most prominent clients over the years.

“It was a wild ride and now we’re ready for some new adventures and rest. Many thanks to our clients and collaborators for trusting in Cuesta to bring our services to their customers”, said Monty Swiryn, President of Cuesta Technologies.

Abdo Publishing, Apple, CVC Software, Educational Software Institute, Get Ed Funding/CDW, Harcourt Publishing, Healthy Kids Resource Center, Magma Software, Mondo Publishing, National Geographic Children’s Books, Newbridge Publishing, Nystrum Education, Pacific Learning, Primary Concepts, Ray and Berendtson, Remedia Publications, Rigby Reading, San Mateo County Educational Resource Center, Social Studies School Services, Steck-Vaughn, Studios on the Square, Sundance Publishing, Tout About Toys, Triumph Learning, and World Class Learning

“We loved working with Cuesta for 20 plus years. They were able to help us build custom solutions for multiple web sites and make it so easy for us to manage the back-end and see top-line results. At first, we were worried about going with a small “mom and pop shop” – would they last as a company in such a rapidly changing and competitive environment? But Cuesta outlived the competition not by years, but decades! Thanks so much for the partnership and friendship.”
